Programs

Girls on the Run - Girls on the Run teaches life skills to the girls who attend (such as managing their emotions or standing up for themselves) and then help them practice these skills through games and physical activity. The girls run more as the season progresses, and at the end they run a 5K race with other girls across the region who participated in Girls on the Run. This is often an amazing moment where the girls see how far they have come and how much they learned over the season. GOTR has 2 seasons a year fall and spring. A separate sign up is required for each season which allows more girls to participate. This program is open to all girls in 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Comic Club - a new club this year led by our own art teacher Ms Robinson, children are hand picked and get to work in a small group enjoying reading and creating comics.

Choir - a yearly program directed by Mrs. Taylor. Choir is comprised of 4th and 5th grade boys and girls. Performances include, September PTA Meeting, Caroling on the Creek, Christmas Program, and 5th Grade Celebration.

Bean Sprouts Garden Club - an after school club designed to give students opportunities for hands-on cooking and gardening opportunities. Students help tend the Elmdale School Garden, learn about the components of healthy food, and prepare recipes together. Bean Sprouts Garden Club motto is to try new things, whether that be planting seeds or trying a new vegetable. Bean Sprouts is limited to 10 students at a time, with three different rotations during the school year.

Annual Reporters - this group of students is responsible for saying the morning announcements, leading the entire building in the Pledge of Allegiance, and school vision and motto. During assemblies they are responsible for taking pictures.

Character Assemblies - we celebrate successes throughout the building. Classes and students are rewarded for great character throughout the month. Awards include; Class Awards, Library Award, PE Award, Music Award, Art Award, and Lunchroom Award.

Individual Awards: Student of the Month (one from each classroom), Super Reader Award (one from each classroom), and the Kiwanis Terrific Kid Award (one student per grade) honored at our character assemblies.

K-Kids - a service club for elementary students. K-Kids is about helping others through community service projects and setting a good example for others to follow. Students are recommended and chosen based on their leadership skills, behavior, and participation in class. Once a student is chosen for K-Kids they remain a K-Kid throughout elementary school.

Running Club - the running club is a year long running and health program. In the fall, the focus is on long-distance, cross-country races for all students in 2nd - 5th grades. In the spring, for 5th grade students only the focus is on track & field activities. The running club participates in district wide cross-country meets, state meets, and regional meets for those who qualify. We also participate in two fun runs in the spring.

Flag Team - a small group of students who are responsible for hanging our flags first thing each morning and taking them down at the end of the day.

YANA (You are not alone) - a new club this year hosted by Mrs. Kilpatrick our school counselor. This club is designed for 4th and 5th graders who want to help spread kindness and compassion all through Elmdale so no one feels like they are alone. This club will be participating in community service projects as well as special events throughout the year.

E3 - a year long club for our 4th grade students who are interested in becoming entrepreneurs. Students learn how to start their own business, create a pitch for investors, get a loan, and work a budget. In April after student-formed businesses have been granted their loans and created their products, they go to NWACC (Northwest Arkansas Community College) to sell their products to college professors and students. The goal is to pay back their loans and make a profit.
