Tomorrow is the Springdale Bands Carwash. The GJHS location is at 10 BOX (1101 S. Thompson). They will be there from 8 AM to ~Noon. If you need some of your dirt washed off your car, they can gladly help you with that!

Yesterday, in Mr. Rues math class, students were literally able to “balance” equations to solve for “x” with the help of this homemade set of scales. Thanks to Ms. Kyger, one of our awesome interns, for a great lesson and a cool visual representation. We are excited to welcome Daulton Coffey to George Jr. High. He previously served as Varsity Defensive Coordinator, among other coaching responsibilities, and Middle School Social Studies Teacher at Watts(OK) Public Schools. He is entering his second year of teaching. He is currently Head Boys Track coach and Football assistant coach for the 8th and 9th grade teams here at GJH, as well as teaching social studies. He graduated high school from Green Forest, then attended Arkansas Tech and John Brown University. He graduated from JBU with a B.S.E. in Secondary Social Studies Education. Coach Coffey currently lives in Siloam Springs with his wife Mallory and their three dogs.

Back to School Meeting
We are excited to welcome Greg Sone to George Jr. High. He has been teaching for 26 years (11 at Prairie Grove and then 15 at Huntsville). He is currently football assistant for the 8th and 9th grade teams here at GJH, as well as teaching social studies and health. He graduated high school from Fayetteville then attended the University of Ozarks to obtain my BSE, he also played baseball there as well as UCA. Coach Sone currently lives at Goshen with his wife Christi who is also a teacher at George. They have three children and one daughter-in-law. Son Zach and wife Emma, son Taylor, daughter Chandler, they also have two granddaughters Sawyer and Sagelee.

We are so excited to introduce and welcome our new choral director, Casey Jones. Casey is in his 5th year of teaching choir. Mr. Jones taught the past four years at Gentry High School and Middle School where he directed choirs grades 6-12. Mr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas where he sang under the direction on John Erwin. As a Springdale graduate and former George Wrangler, he is extremely excited to teach choir in his hometown! Mr. Jones has served in a number of different leadership positions with ArkCDA and ACDA. He has co-coordinated a SWACDA regional honor choirs in Oklahoma City and will coordinate for this year's SWACDA honor choir in Little Rock. He is a 2016 graduate of the ArkCDA leadership academy. He has also served the past 3 years as ArkCDA Region 6 Treasurer. Mr. Jones lives in Gentry with his wife Erica, son Cayden, and two dogs Buddy and Tucker.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES! On the first day of school, we recommend that GJHS students bring a binder, paper, writing utensils, and 2-3 composition notebooks. Some teachers will request that students bring additional supplies specifically for their classes, but they will let students know this during the first week of school.

Our Back to School Open House is just around the corner! Please make plans to attend on Thursday evening, August 8th from 5:30-7:00. Incoming 8th grade students are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 and Incoming 9th grade students are encouraged to arrive at 6:15. We can't wait to see you there!
