John Farrell once attended Springdale Schools as a student and now serves Jones Elementary School as a Commissioned School Security Officer.
Farrell, 66, said he has wonderful memories as a former student of Southwest Junior High School and a 1974 Springdale High School graduate.
He decided to serve as a CSSO with Springdale Public Schools to help contribute to school safety, Farrell said.
“It is a great way to give back to the community,” he said. “With my background in public service, I know I can contribute to the objective of protecting our schools.”
Farrell brings his experience as a retired firefighter and paramedic to his role as a CSSO, as well as a background in hazardous materials, technical rescue procedures and a part-time law enforcement certification.
“I have experience in dealing with complex situations and offer a broad background in emergency services,” Farrell said.
Farrell lives in Siloam Springs but said he spent much of his adult life in Russellville.
He’s been married to his wife, Audra, for 12 years and has two daughters, Linsey, 27 and, Lainey, 21.
When he’s not following through with his commitment to keep Springdale Schools safe, Farrell may be found enjoying outdoor activities, such as hunting and hiking.
Leo Dale Teague has no shortage of experience when it comes to investing in safe schools.
“I think I bring a well-rounded background to help the district achieve its goals in creating a culture of safety,” Teague said of his position as a Commissioned School Security Officer with Springdale Public Schools.
Teague has 24 years of law enforcement experience and served as chief of police for the Central City Police Department and a patrol officer. He likewise served 12 years as the Safety and Security director for Lavaca Public Schools, as well as a security forces specialist with the Arkansas Air National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He’s currently assigned to the 188th Security Forces Squadron with the Air National Guard.
“I was welcomed into the district by everyone and look forward to helping build a culture of safety and security for everyone in the district,” Teague said.
Teague, 50, works out of Walker Elementary School as a CSSO program team leader and is a CSSO supervisor at Hunt, George, Young, Westwood, Smith, John Tyson, Shaw, Elmdale and Knapp elementary schools, as well as Jim D. Rollins Elementary School of Innovation.
Teague has been married to his wife, Sheila Teague, for 27 years. His children are Ashley Holman, 29, and Tyler Teague, 29. His grandchildren are Odessa Holman, 4, and Callaway Holmank, 10 months.
He spends his free time with his family, attending church, working on home do-it-yourself projects, camping and shooting at his family’s range.
“I enjoy all these things because I get to spend time with my family and friends,” he said.
Teague lives in Lavaca, but calls Alma home, he said, noting he served eight years as a Lavaca City Council member.
